Fire Blankets

Fire blankets are designed for use in any kitchen environment where there is a risk of cooking oil and fat fires. They should also be used to wrap around employees to protect them when engaged in firefighting, or to cover any clothing that has caught fire. The blanket smothers the fire by creating a barrier to starve it of oxygen to extinguish the fire.

Designed for Cooking Oils and Fats

Fire blankets are (designed/suitable) for fires caused by:

  • cooking oils
  • cooking fats

and for personal protection.

How Fire Blankets work

Fire blankets are manufactured from special fire-retardant fabric that is woven into square sheets. They are designed to help extinguish small starting fires and should always be supported by fire extinguishers. The blanket is placed over the fire to create a barrier that prevents flammable vapour reaching the air. This starves the fire of fuel and ultimately extinguishes the fire.
